Maintenance Technician

We are seeking a collaborative, detail‑oriented, and safety‑focused Maintenance Technician to perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on mechanical, electrical, and building systems across industrial and facility operations. The successful candidate will partner with operations, engineering, and contractors to ensure reliable asset performance, safe work execution, and timely restoration of equipment. This role requires strong troubleshooting skills, hands‑on mechanical and electrical aptitude, familiarity with maintenance best practices, and a commitment to continuous improvement and safe work practices.
Key Responsibilities

Perform routine preventive maintenance, inspections, lubrication, adjustments, and testing on rotating equipment, pumps, motors, compressors, HVAC, conveyors, and building support systems to ensure reliable operation.

Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical failures; perform corrective repairs, component replacements, alignments, balancing, and reassembly to restore equipment to service.

Respond to maintenance work orders and emergency equipment outages in a timely manner; document troubleshooting steps, repairs performed, parts used, and time to completion in the work management system.

Support predictive maintenance activities including vibration analysis, thermography, oil analysis, and condition monitoring; collect data, interpret results, and recommend corrective actions or schedule repairs.

Execute lockout/tagout, confined space, hot work, and other required permits and safety procedures; verify isolation and maintain a safe work area for maintenance and contractor activities.

Read and interpret mechanical and electrical schematics, OEM manuals, work instructions, and drawings; follow standard operating procedures and maintenance checklists.

Coordinate with operations and engineering to plan and execute preventive and corrective maintenance, minor modifications, and equipment upgrades to minimize downtime and ensure quality.

Order and maintain inventory of spare parts and consumables; recommend stocking levels and cost‑effective repair strategies to support uptime and reduce lead times.

Participate in continuous improvement initiatives such as reliability projects, root cause analysis, and failure mode reviews to improve equipment performance and reduce repeat failures.

Train and mentor junior technicians and contractors on safe work methods, troubleshooting techniques, and company maintenance standards.

Maintain accurate maintenance records, complete preventive maintenance logs, and contribute to maintenance performance metrics and reports for leadership review.
Required Qualifications - Skills & Experience

High school diploma or equivalent; technical trade school certificate, associate degree in a related field, or equivalent combination of education and hands‑on maintenance experience preferred.

3+ years of progressive mechanical and electrical maintenance experience in industrial, manufacturing, or commercial facility environments.

Proven ability to troubleshoot mechanical systems (bearings, couplings, gearboxes, pumps) and basic electrical systems (motors, starters, control wiring); experience with PLCs, VFDs, and basic instrumentation is a plus.

Practical experience performing preventive and predictive maintenance tasks, including use of vibration analyzers, infrared cameras, and fluid sampling equipment.

Working knowledge of lockout/tagout, confined space entry, and other safe work practices; ability to follow permits and execute tasks in compliance with safety procedures.

Strong mechanical aptitude, hand tool proficiency, and ability to operate lifting equipment safely (hoists, cranes, forklifts) where applicable; relevant operator certifications advantageous.

Effective communication skills, ability to read technical documentation, and competency with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) and basic Microsoft Office tools.

Ability to work both independently and as part of cross‑functional teams, prioritize multiple tasks, and respond to changing operational needs including shift work or on‑call rotations if required.
Preferred Qualifications - Domain & Tools

Formal certifications such as Industrial Maintenance Technician, HVAC certification, electrical trade license, or equivalent are advantageous.

Experience with PLC troubleshooting and programming basics, VFD setup, and industrial control systems diagnostics.

Familiarity with reliability‑centered maintenance (RCM), root cause analysis tools (5‑Why, fishbone), and continuous improvement methodologies (Kaizen, 5S).

Proficiency with CMMS platforms for work order management, inventory control, and maintenance planning; experience with data visualization tools for reporting maintenance KPIs is a plus.

Prior experience supporting planned outages, turnarounds, or capital projects and coordinating contractor maintenance activities.
