We are seeking a collaborative, analytical, and safety‑focused Civil Engineer to support design, construction, and maintenance of infrastructure and facility projects. The successful candidate will work closely with project managers, construction teams, consultants, and cross‑functional stakeholders to deliver safe, cost‑effective, and code‑compliant civil engineering solutions. This role requires strong technical fundamentals, practical field experience, data‑driven problem solving, and a commitment to continuous improvement and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead civil engineering design activities including site grading, stormwater management, drainage design, earthwork quantities, pavements, utilities (water, sanitary, storm), and erosion control to meet project requirements and regulatory standards.

• Prepare, review, and maintain technical drawings, calculations, specifications, P&IDs where applicable, and construction documents using CAD and/or BIM tools; ensure deliverables meet company and client quality standards.

• Develop cost estimates, scopes of work, and technical justifications for capital and maintenance projects; support budgeting and schedule development for design and construction phases.

• Perform site investigations, survey reviews, and constructability assessments; support geotechnical coordination, perform slope stability and soil bearing analyses, and specify appropriate foundation and pavement sections.

• Lead or support construction phase activities including contractor coordination, submittal reviews, requests for information (RFIs), site inspections, punch lists, and as‑built documentation to ensure work is executed per design and safety requirements.

• Conduct engineering calculations and hydraulic/hydrologic modeling for stormwater conveyance, detention/retention systems, culverts, and storm sewer networks; evaluate alternatives and document rationale for recommendations.

• Participate in project risk assessments, value engineering, and design reviews; apply structured problem‑solving methodologies (e.g., root cause analysis, FMEA) for technical issues and implement corrective actions.

• Coordinate with permitting agencies and support preparation of permit applications, technical exhibits, and responses to agency comments to secure necessary approvals and ensure regulatory compliance.

• Monitor project performance metrics (schedule, budget, change orders) and prepare reports and presentations for stakeholders and leadership to drive continuous improvement and timely decision making.

• Support development and maintenance of standards, procedures, and standard details for civil design and construction; author and update technical manuals, SOPs, and inspection checklists.

• Provide training and technical support to field staff, contractors, and junior engineers on civil engineering principles, construction best practices, and safety expectations.

Required Qualifications - Skills & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or closely related discipline; relevant combination of education and industry experience considered.

• 3+ years of civil engineering experience in site development, infrastructure, construction support, or related sectors; experience in industrial or heavy civil projects is a plus.

• Strong understanding of site grading, stormwater management (BMPs), hydraulic/hydrologic principles, earthwork, pavement design, utility coordination, and erosion and sediment control.

• Proficiency with civil design and drafting tools (e.g., AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroStation, or equivalent) and familiarity with GIS and survey data interpretation.

• Experience performing engineering calculations, modeling (e.g., HEC‑RAS, SWMM, HydroCAD), and preparing construction documents, technical specifications, and cost estimates.

• Working knowledge of applicable codes, standards, and regulations (local stormwater ordinances, state DOT standards, OSHA construction safety, and EPA stormwater requirements).

• Demonstrated ability to lead technical coordination with contractors, consultants, and regulatory agencies; strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, ability to prepare clear technical reports, construction drawings, and to present findings to stakeholders.

• Ability to work independently and collaboratively with cross‑functional teams, manage multiple priorities, and support site activities including periodic field inspections and construction oversight.

Preferred Qualifications - Domain & Tools

• Professional Engineer (PE) license or progress toward licensure is advantageous.

• Experience with construction management, contractor oversight, and familiarity with project controls (scheduling tools, cost tracking, change management).

• Formal training or certification in stormwater management, erosion control, or relevant programs (e.g., CPESC, CPMSM) and experience facilitating site compliance audits.

• Proficiency with advanced modeling tools and CAD/BIM workflows, and experience exporting models and deliverables for permitting and construction coordination.

• Prior experience on industrial, commercial, or transportation infrastructure projects and familiarity with coordination of multidisciplinary design teams.
