Electrical Engineer
Join a collaborative, safety‑minded team as an Electrical Engineer to design, install, test, and maintain safe, reliable electrical systems for industrial facilities.
We are seeking a collaborative, analytical, and safety‑focused Electrical Engineer to support design, installation, testing, and maintenance of electrical systems for industrial facilities and infrastructure projects. The successful candidate will work closely with project managers, construction teams, operations, and cross‑functional stakeholders to deliver safe, cost‑effective, and code‑compliant electrical solutions. This role requires strong technical fundamentals, practical field experience, data‑driven problem solving, and a commitment to continuous improvement and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
-
Lead electrical engineering design activities including power distribution (medium and low voltage), motor control centers (MCCs), switchgear, transformers, backup power systems, grounding and bonding, lighting, and emergency/egress systems to meet project requirements and regulatory standards.
-
Prepare, review, and maintain technical drawings, schematics, single‑line diagrams, wiring diagrams, load calculations, short‑circuit and coordination studies, relay settings, and construction documents using CAD and/or BIM tools; ensure deliverables meet company and client quality standards.
-
Develop cost estimates, scopes of work, and technical justifications for capital and maintenance electrical projects; support budgeting and schedule development for design, procurement, and construction phases.
-
Perform site assessments, electrical system surveys, and constructability reviews; evaluate existing systems, identify deficiencies, and recommend remediation or upgrade strategies that balance safety, reliability, and cost.
-
Lead or support construction and commissioning activities including contractor coordination, submittal reviews, requests for information (RFIs), site inspections, functional testing, punch lists, and as‑built documentation to ensure work is executed per design and safety requirements.
-
Conduct engineering calculations and analyses for load flow, voltage drop, harmonics, motor starting, and protective device coordination; evaluate alternatives and document rationale for recommendations.
-
Participate in project risk assessments, value engineering, and design reviews; apply structured problem‑solving methodologies (e.g., root cause analysis, FMEA) for technical issues and implement corrective actions.
-
Coordinate with permitting authorities, utilities, and third‑party vendors to support permit applications, service agreements, interconnection studies, and equipment deliveries to secure necessary approvals and ensure regulatory compliance.
-
Monitor project performance metrics (schedule, budget, change orders) and prepare reports and presentations for stakeholders and leadership to drive continuous improvement and timely decision making.
-
Support development and maintenance of electrical standards, procedures, and standard details; author and update technical manuals, SOPs, commissioning checklists, and preventive maintenance plans.
-
Provide training and technical support to operations, maintenance staff, contractors, and junior engineers on electrical safety, system operation, troubleshooting, and best practices.
Required Qualifications - Skills & Experience
-
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or closely related discipline; relevant combination of education and industry experience considered.
-
3+ years of electrical engineering experience in industrial, commercial, or utility settings involving power distribution, control systems, or electrical construction support.
-
Strong understanding of electrical distribution systems, motor control, protection and coordination, grounding, lighting design, and emergency power systems.
-
Proficiency with electrical design and drafting tools (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, ETAP, SKM PowerTools, or equivalent) and familiarity with electrical calculation software and BIM workflows.
-
Experience performing engineering calculations and studies (load flow, short‑circuit, protective device coordination, voltage drop) and preparing construction documents, technical specifications, and cost estimates.
-
Working knowledge of applicable electrical codes, standards, and regulations (NEC/NFPA, IEEE, NESC as applicable, OSHA, and local utility requirements).
-
Demonstrated ability to coordinate technical work with contractors, vendors, and regulatory agencies; strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
-
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, ability to prepare clear technical reports, schematics, and to present findings to stakeholders.
-
Ability to work independently and collaboratively with cross‑functional teams, manage multiple priorities, and support site activities including periodic field inspections, testing, and commissioning.
Preferred Qualifications - Domain & Tools
-
Professional Engineer (PE) license or progress toward licensure is advantageous.
-
Experience with commissioning, relay settings, protective device coordination, and familiarity with project controls (scheduling tools, cost tracking, change management).
-
Formal training or certification in electrical safety, arc flash analysis, or related programs (e.g., NFPA 70E, OSHA) and experience facilitating site electrical safety audits.
-
Proficiency with advanced analysis tools (e.g., ETAP, SKM, CYME) and experience exporting models and deliverables for procurement and construction coordination.
-
Prior experience on industrial, manufacturing, or utility interconnection projects and familiarity with integration of control systems (PLCs, drives) and power management systems.
Work Environment & Compensation
-
Full‑time role based onsite or in a hybrid arrangement depending on project needs; position includes regular interaction with construction and operations teams and requires periodic site visits, exposure to outdoor and industrial environments, and use of personal protective equipment.
-
Competitive salary and benefits package commensurate with experience, including health coverage, retirement plan options, paid time off, and opportunities for professional development and licensure support.
-
Opportunities for career growth through participation in cross‑functional projects, technical training, and leadership development programs.
-
We are committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion and foster a respectful, safe work environment that supports work‑life balance and employee well‑being.
