Compensation & Benefits Manager

We are seeking an experienced, candidate‑focused Compensation & Benefits Manager to design, deliver, and manage compensation and benefits programs that attract, retain, and motivate employees. The successful candidate will combine strong total rewards expertise, practical plan administration experience, and the ability to consult with business leaders to ensure pay equity, competitive positioning, and benefits design that support organizational goals and a positive employee experience.
Key Responsibilities

Design and manage compensation programs: Develop and maintain base pay structures, job leveling frameworks, short‑term incentive plans, and equity programs that align to business strategy and market practices.

Benefits strategy and administration: Oversee health, retirement, wellness, leave, and other benefit offerings; partner with brokers and vendors to evaluate plan design, costs, and service delivery.

Total rewards benchmarking: Conduct market benchmarking and salary surveys, analyze market data, and provide competitive recommendations for salary ranges, bonus targets, and benefits packages.

Compensation governance and policy: Develop, document, and communicate compensation and benefits policies, guidelines, and approval processes to ensure consistency and compliance.

Pay equity and analytics: Lead pay equity analyses, identify risks and remediation actions, and produce regular analytics and dashboards that inform leadership decision‑making.

Program implementation and communication: Manage total rewards programs from concept through implementation; produce clear employee communications, FAQs, and training for managers on pay and benefits topics.

Stakeholder partnership and consultation: Act as a trusted advisor to HR business partners and people leaders on compensation strategy, budgeting for merit cycles, salary actions, and promotion decisions.

Compensation transactions and job evaluation: Oversee job analysis, job descriptions, job leveling, salary offers, and special compensation requests; administer salary increases, transfers, and equity awards in partnership with HR operations.

Vendor and program oversight: Manage relationships with external consultants, brokers, and vendors for salary surveys, actuarial services, and benefits administration platforms.

Compliance and reporting: Ensure compensation and benefits practices comply with applicable laws and regulations; prepare regular reporting on total rewards spend, participation, and program outcomes.

Continuous improvement: Identify opportunities to streamline processes, enhance tools (comp systems, benefits platforms), and improve the employee experience and operational efficiency.
Required Qualifications - Skills & Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

5+ years of progressive compensation and benefits experience, including hands‑on administration, program design, and stakeholder consulting.

Demonstrated experience with compensation benchmarking, salary structure design, and incentive plan administration.

Proven ability to analyze data and produce actionable insights; proficiency with Excel and experience with compensation or HRIS systems (e.g., Workday, ADP, SAP, PayScale).

Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain complex total rewards concepts to diverse audiences.

Experience managing vendor relationships and benefits plan administration; knowledge of retirement plan fundamentals and benefits compliance.

High attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications - Domain & Tools

Advanced degree or certification (e.g., CCP, CEBS) in compensation, benefits, or total rewards.

Experience with pay equity audits and remediation planning across multi‑site or global organizations.

Familiarity with HRIS and compensation tools such as Workday, PeopleSoft, Salary.com, PayScale, or Mercer platforms.

Experience designing and administering equity programs and executive compensation arrangements.

Prior experience working in a multi‑national environment and managing compliance across jurisdictions.
